Forbidden Island is another truly excellent game from Gamewright. It is a cooperative game, meaning that players do not play against each other but must work together to win the game. The rules are very simple but it's fiendishly difficult to avoid drowning and collect all of the treasure in time! The aim of the game is to rescue four treasures from the ruins of the island. The gameboard is created by laying shuffled tiles to create the island. The tiles get turned over to show they're being flooded and it's up to the players to agree tactics to ensure that they are shored up to stop them sinking altogether. Can you make a daring escape by helicopter before it's too late?

  • Encourages problem-solving & strategic thinking
  • Develops cooperative play

Forbidden Island Game

One of the most interesting board games I've ever played, it is nice both for kids and for adults. What I find special is the fact that the players have to collaborate, work like a team and value each other's abilities, rather than compete against one another, which sets a really nice atmosphere. That said, the game is really challenging and we found it quite difficult to succeed, but that makes it all the more interesting! Also, the graphics are stunning.

Forbidden Island Game

Bought this last Christmas for grandsons 10 & 6. Took a couple of attempts to understand how to play (I ended up playing by myself to work it out) and it's a really good game. Once I realises you played on the cards and not in the spaces it was fine! Our now 7 year old has grasped it really well and makes suggestions on moves to play. It's a great game as either the 'island' wins or the whole team of players do. This nrw purchase is for our other set of grandchildren who will find it entertaining and challenging too.
