Cambridge Brainbox 900 Explorer 2 Electronics Kit

The Explorer 2 Electronics Kit now has software that converts
your computer into a oscilloscope. Using this you can explore the
wave forms produced buy the circuits and see the results of any
changes you make to the circuit.
The Cambridge Brainbox 900 Explorer 2 Electronics Kit is designed to build upon the skills already learnt in primary school and to increase the student's knowledge of the principles of electronics. The kit could be used to enhance the understanding of Key Stage 3 and 4 electronics it is that comprehensive.
The kit has over 60 individual components including transistors,
resistors and capacitors. Circuits in the instruction manual range from the basic, lighting a single bulb, and progresses through using pre-programmed sound modules to building an FM radio.
Students can experiment by designing their own circuits such as
how to control events like switching on a bedroom light when the
daylight fades or using a magnetic sensor to see if a window has
been left open.

Requires 4 AA batteries. Ages 10 to 14 and (as batteries are used!) any child under 8 should be supervised.

It was good to teach science, but I regret that it could not compete with the iPad or notebook, both of which soon took over his interest.
This was a present for my nephews and they absolutely love it!
Our 9 yr old grandson was straight into it (up to exercise 200) but he sees it more s sort of Lego where you copy the illustrations. He hasn't yet understood the principles behind it. Nevertheless he is very much enjoying using the kit and that's the main thing
I bought it as a gift for my 11 yr old son and he is veryinterested in electrics. He loved it. I myself find it very interesting. The experiments are very nicely presented and kids learning so much as they are having fun. Even my 8 year old daughter love doing experiments on it. Really happy with the purchase. It was very nicely packaged and delivered earlier than expected. 5 stars from me!
This is a fantastic set for any child- it kept our 11 year old busy for not only Christmas Day but Boxing Day as well!

Great product. My kids loved it. Would be great if you could add a 3V/6Vpower supply. Would be a more eco-friendly kit then.
This is a really excellent product, hardly a toy and full of opportunities to learn. However the comprehensive instruction book has a serious mistake re experiment 20 in that the diagram shows dangerously wrong connections although the text is correct. The company has acknowledged the mistake and says it will correct the book but you should check that a correction is made in any sold through you. I am a highly qualified engineer FIET.
